So, is this the major game changer that we’ve all been looking for? Or else, is it just another expensive industrial design study that only a few can afford?
Without having ridden one, I can only say that the new Taga Stroller/Tricycle looks amazing. Basically, it is a kid carrying cargo tricycle that converts on the fly into a walking stroller. WOW! Also, it has numerous optional features that allow it to be customized and outfitted in any number of ways.
The MAJOR drawback at this moment is the stunning price and lack of availability. Not yet sold in the US, it has a base price of $2500 without any options. Include shipping, handling, and customs duties, you’re pushing $3000 by the time you’re riding the base model in the States.
Early Verdict: Function and styling that any parent would love, price tag of a good used car.

The Zigo Leader Carrier Bicycle System is currentyl availabel in the US, starting at $1399. It can be used as a carrier bike, stroller, jogger, bicycle or trailer. Zigo is a good alternative to Taga.

The Zigo looks more like a product that will be stable- the Taga does not look safe enough on real roads w/ those small toy wheels. However, you have to wonder at the prices for the Zigo- if a nice mid range (NON Walmart) bike is $500, then will 1300 really build a quality transformer? Time will tell…..

The smaller wheels up front will probably drop the center of gravity down an inch or two, which will make a huge difference in how a tricycle will ride. In the past, I’ve ridden front load cargo tricycles with larger wheels up front which feel very tip prone when compared to the ones with smaller wheels. Plus cargo trikes aren’t really meant for going fast, especially with kids on board. The added stability and maneuverability are probably what Taga is going for.

The Taga will also be available in the US soon!
The biggest difference with the Zigo is that you dont have to leave parts behind. The Taga is a very compact bike/stroller. Easy to use and very stable. You have to try one to know how good it feels!
