Pashley Cycles has been building bicycles in the UK since 1926. They have a range of bicycles from city bikes to cargo tricycles. My favorite in their product line is the Pashley Freighmate Cargo Tricycle.
It has absolutely everything anyone could look for in a cargo tricycle. It has electric power assist, independent steering for each of the front wheels (Ackerman steering), disk brakes, turn signals, lights, and even a horn. This is definitely a great alternative for any business that needs to make local deliveries in crowded urban areas or as a run about for staff working in a large facility.

This one looks kind of interesting. The last two bikes looked like they were specific to moving kids. After the kids were big enough to ride on their own the box wasn’t big enough to really carry much. I know that not everyone wants one of those dutch work bikes that look like a flat-bed truck. this looks like it would be a serviceable compromise between the flat-bed and the child carrier.

Definitely, this one is an overall great design. Also, since their target market are companies and small businesses, the price point can be higher and more features can be added.
I’m not sure if it’s available yet in the States, but I wish it were.

I believe this machine was designed originally for use by the royal mail. It is now covered with a dust sheet in the corner of some shed. as far as i know there is no planned production run which is a great shame indeed. For me if they were to enlarge it slightly and fit suspension to the front then this would be a load carrier to shadow all others.

Dom,
Sounds like you know someone at Pashley. Any chance you could snap some photos of the prototype freightmate? It would be cool to see it in more detail.
